Marketing for Romance Writers' Books Hooks #MFRWhooks

MFRW Authors Blog
It's Wednesday and time for the Marketing for Romance Writers Books Hooks mini hop! (see linky list below) Participants post 6-8 sentences from their novel. Today I'm offering a bit from  Enchanted Skye ~ a story woven around an ancient legend and one actual family's oral tradition.

Setting the Stage~
The townspeople all know the ancient rumor about the McCodrum family being selkie. It's great fun to tell the tourists. Only one person knows it's true. Here Bea shares her worries for her charmed brother with Angus, an old family friend.

My 8~
Bea deliberated only a moment before explaining the charm and the legend behind it. Outside her fisher folk relations, Angus was the only person on Skye to know the truth of their family.

“Are ye serious?”

“I am, Uncle. He saw her keening over the water and drew closer to investigate. If her tears spilled there while he was in the water, well…unless she returns his feelings, the pining for her will kill him. We’re all worried.”

“If young Alex has been caught like yer father was, we must ge’ them together. Tha’ charm is a dangerous thing,
Trixie. A dangerous thing.
