This time it's 7 short paragraphs from my award-winning Hermes Online ~ a contemporary online love affair told in one voice only so the reader can see Vivienne's broken heart heal in real time.
 

The Blurb:
Left bruised and brokenhearted after a cruel breakup, Vivienne Bennet finds herself mired in a world of self-doubt. To her surprise, she receives an email that challenges her to rediscover the sensual woman she once was. Together Vivienne and the enigmatic man known only as S embark upon the world of anonymous Internet communication where suggestive emails lead to erotic chat, where cybering leads to Skype, and C2C sends both into the arms of a love they'd believed lost forever.

Setting the Stage: 
Vivienne and the penpal she knows only as S have gone from emails to online chat. In this scene he asks her this question, "How came you to be this sensual creature?" As a person whose self-confidence was deliberately shattered by a cheating ex caught in the act, she really needs these words to remind her of the woman she really is -- a woman not defined by the negative words of another.

I smiled and shook my head to myself. I couldn’t begin to say actually. I think I’ve always been drawn to imagery. Is that what you mean?

Your ability to paint living hues with words is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It’s quite hot, V. Quite hot.

As am I. Words can be very intimate if used to their full potential—as we’ve just experienced.

Oh yeah, I said to myself. Feeling the chat might have opened a door to friendship, at least a tiny bit anyway, I said, I know you are a proficient wordsmith. I know you have a knack with a phrase that can play my imagination like a fiddle...

LOL And you’re wondering about me the man, eh?

Grinning I replied, I’d be lying if I said no.
