My excerpt today comes from Hermes Online, my CataRomance Sensual Reads Reviewer's Choice Winner for Contemporary Romance. This is an unusual story of transformation told in one perspective only.
(psst...the Greek gods are implied)
Setting the Stage
Vivienne and the man known only as S are sharing emails that are growing progressively more intimate as time goes by. After the battering her self esteem suffered, each email is a handhold out of her dark thoughts.
“You’ve got mail” burst forth from the speakers. I discovered I had been conditioned to have an autonomic response to seeing the envelope and hearing the computerized words. Like Pavlov’s dog, I began to salivate.
Here's the story
"I liked this story. It's a throwback to the old style romanticism" "The plot twist definitely appeals to the romantic in me." "It's a thoroughly sensual read and a feel-good story." -Happily Ever After Reviews

Author Pages etc:
I have many author's pages and static pages around the web. Too many to list here! If you see me, do say hello.
I think lately we have all been conditioned to email or message tunes... I know I am. This scene feels so real to me.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth? I still have a few old TV jingle rolling around my head since I was a child. Thanks for stopping Linda.

ReplyDeleteThat email tune really does have us programmed to react! Nice hook.
ReplyDeleteLike the "Pavlov's Dog" line...it's so true of so many of us. Nice hook
