Sexy Snippets

It's Sunday and time for Sexy Snippets. Participants post just seven sentences to capture the imagination. Today I'm offering a small sampling from Dreamscape ~ a reader-interactive Victorian/contemporary romance.


Setting the Stage~ Jason sits on Lanie's bed contemplating the lovely woman who now lives in his home. As a ghost he knows his touch has no substance, but he surrenders to a sudden desire to touch her and surprises himself in more ways that one.

My Seven:
Against his better judgment, he reached out and touched her hip. Unbelievably, he found her silky soft and very warm. His hand glided up her bare leg. It had been ages since he’d touched anything warm, and frankly he was surprised that he could, for he never could touch Margaret --not even on the night she passed when he tried to hold her hand to bring her comfort. With his hand upon her, he stared at Lanie a long while, deliberating. Being able to touch her like this was akin to being alive again, but he didn’t dismiss the fact the act also made him a cad. Replacing that uncomfortable thought with another, he wondered if his touch might affect her as it was most certainly affecting him.

About this book: Written in homage to Agatha Christie, Dreamscape is a haunting, a murder, a mystery, a time travel of sorts, and a scorching love story that transcends time. It's also a reader's Easter egg hunt. Peppered throughout are hints suggesting a story behind the scenes. Finding them isn't necessary to the telling of the tale, just a fun twist in my writing.  :)

Sexy Snippets!

It's Sunday and time for Sexy Snippets. Participants post just seven sentences to capture the imagination. Today, I'm offering a sampling from Dreamscape.


Written in homage to Agatha Christie, Dreamscape is a haunting, a murder, a thriller, a mystery, a time-travel of sorts, and a love story that transcends time. It's also an Easter egg hunt. Not everything is as it appears. Peppered throughout are little clues suggesting a story running behind the scenes. Finding them isn't necessary to the telling of the tale, just a fun twist in my writing. Can you find them all before the story ends? The bigger question is... can a ghost find love among the living?

Setting the Stage~

Jason realizes when he touches Lanie's skin, he actually feels her. Her warmth appeals to this ghost. Her living warmth make him feel just a little bit alive.


My Seven:
His entire being desired to lose himself in the living heat of her. There was simply no stopping himself from caressing her, having lost that particular battle of conscience the first night she lay in his bed. He’d convinced himself that as long as he kept his baser needs to himself, touching her while she was completely unaware was a harmless compulsion. 

Materializing just under the linens, his glowing form lit the sheet like a Japanese lantern. He whispered to her unconscious mind as she lay curled on her side, “Lay back for me, sweetheart, let me look at you fully while I feel how warm you are.”

Unconsciously responding to his suggestion, she rolled on her back, one arm tossed casually over her pillow. 

Once more marveling that he was able to touch her at all, he swept her raven hair back from her lovely face, his thumb lightly traced the delicate arch of her eyebrow.

Setting the Stage~
Newlyweds Nicolas and Ellie have a conversation about a fellow passenger they sat with at dinner there first night aboard ship, one she felt showed more than a little interest in her new husband. Feeling a little uneasy about this topic, and new to the workings of the female mind, Nicolas finds he doesn't know what to say.

My Seven~
Her assertiveness appealed to me, no question about it. However, I wasn’t sure this was a topic one had with a wife. “I don’t think… ”

“Fiddlesticks. If my own husband can’t talk to me about his lovemaking, then who can?”

My quickly-downed libations were affecting me. I didn’t know what words to use, where to begin, or even what to say, but that didn’t stop her interrogation.

Setting the Stage~
Nicolas, Ellie, and Luca attempt to decipher Leonardo's book of love and find themselves warmed by the content. Before long Ellie gets other ideas...

My Seven~
Ever the minx, Ellie closed the book and set it, and our theories, aside. She went to her trunk and withdrew three silk scarves. These we tied around our heads like blindfolds. Feeling our way to the canopied bed, she drew the velvet curtains closed and we immersed ourselves in total darkness. Deprived of sight, we gave over to our other senses.
I could see why Leonardo blindfolded himself. Submerged in touch and sound, scent and taste, I understood why he sought this heightened sensitivity.

Sexy Snippets!

Another Sunday and another Sexy Snippets!

The idea is to post just seven sentences to capture the imagination. Today, I'm offering another small sampling from 
my backlist ~ Dreamscape. A haunting, a murder, a mystery, a time-travel of sorts, a reader's puzzle running behind the scenes, and a love that transcends time.


Setting the stage: Lanie rushes to the top of the house to close windows against a storm. The electricity illuminates Jason's ghostly form. She doesn't take it well.


My Seven:
“It’s you,” she whispered awestruck.

Jason nodded in the flickering light.

“I can see you.” Lanie swayed on her feet, feeling lightheaded. 

Jason rushed forward to catch her. Her eyes grew huge as she said in awe, “I can feel you.”  She promptly collapsed in his arms.
