It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words.
Today a sampling from
Dreamscape ~ a contemporary/Victorian love story with a twist.

Setting the Stage~
As this point in the story, Jason the ghost finds himself annoyed that Lanie went out on a blond date.

My Seven~

Over her shoulder, in the mirror, he watched her fascinating application of tints and lash color, though, in his opinion, she was just as beautiful with as without. Her pantalets were nothing more than a Y-shaped piece of material that accented her adorable rounded backside. Her brassiere was crafted from very feminine black lace, low enough that the rosy hue of her areolas slightly peeked above the edge. A French milliner couldn’t have chosen better. She dabbed perfume behind her ears, on the inside of her wrists and at the spot above her heart. Although the fragrance was faint, he was surprised he could smell the familiar floral scent on her as she passed, and that sense had been dead as long as he. Holding this piece of clothing or that before her, she appraised her reflection in the mirror with each. After four considerations, the dress she settled on was black and short—too short. He found himself frowning.

The frown persisted as the mantle clock stuck ten o’clock and deepened when it struck eleven. By eleven-thirty-two, he was in a fine pique. Hearing Lanie’s automobile roll onto the gravel drive, he invisibly materialized downstairs to meet her at the door with his arms folded across his chest in irritation. Looking her over from head to toe as she came in talking on her telephone, he thought her lips were a little chafed, a little too swollen. She’d kissed the man she’d just met that night, no doubt more than once. The thought annoyed him more than the late hour.

“No really, I had a nice time with Jim.” She laughed. “Yes, nosy, I let him kiss me. Lexie, I know, but please no more dates until I finish the clinic. Please? I have too much to do to get sidetracked.” She laughed again. “I don’t know, maybe I'll see him again. Yes he kissed fine! Maybe. Lex. Alright, you can set us up again when I get things done here. No, I don’t know how long it’s going to be—I have the clinic to open! Yes, I know you do. No, when I’m done you’ll be the first to know. I promise. Love you, too.” She hung up the phone shaking her head. “Sheesh,” she said in exasperation, but the over-kissed smile lingered.

Irritated a great deal, he followed her upstairs and watched as she washed her face, brushed her teeth, and changed into her worn, comfortable-looking clothing. Still invisible, he didn’t follow behind her when she went back downstairs. Rather he focused his mind and appeared alongside her at the bottom. Heading to the parlor, she turned on Margaret’s television and took a seat on the sofa directly across. When kissing her date goodnight, he suddenly had the arms of an octopus. She picked up the remote and proceeded to flip through channels, feeling wired from fending off her date’s sweet but unwanted attentions. Watching her, Jason shook his head. “Oh no, sweetheart, I haven’t waited the entire night for you to lose yourself to this contrivance.” With that he projected his spirit energy into the wires that fed the machine electricity. The screen instantly filled with snow.

Lanie frowned at the snowy screen and flipped through channel after channel looking for better reception. “Oh, come on!” she told the television. After another run-through, she gave up and turned it off. “Damn it. All I wanted to do was unwind before bed.” She headed to the kitchen for a cup of chamomile tea. Jason watched her go, feeling the slightest remorse for haunting her television. He reasoned he didn’t like that noisy box that for all appearances put Margaret into a daily trance. He followed her into the kitchen where he noticed her lips again. His remorse evaporated. Sharing passionate kisses with a man you just met! Annoyed, Jason swept his hand across the counter and knocked the spoon to the floor with a clatter.

Lanie jumped at the sound. Frowning, she reached under the chair where a spoon had inexplicably fallen then looked around for anything that might have knocked it on the floor, hoping she didn’t have large mice or, God forbid, rats. Setting it in the sink, she said, “I think I have ghosts.”

Jason’s anger instantly faded as her statement took him by surprise. Testing her, he slowly opened the cabinet door, the old hinges squeaking and groaning. She turned to the sound of the swinging door, and he watched her face carefully. No fear, just curiosity. The whistling kettle diverted her attention. Once more he found himself wishing he were able to sit over a cup of tea and talk with her. He wanted to know where she’d been tonight and why she’d kissed a man she hardly knew. He wanted to know why she haunted his thoughts as surely as he haunted these halls. But moving a spoon and a cupboard door was a far cry from materializing in full form before her.

Here's the story
About this book: Written in homage to Agatha Christie, Dreamscape is a haunting, a murder, a mystery, a time travel of sorts, and a scorching love story that transcends time. It's also a reader's Easter egg hunt. Peppered throughout are hints suggesting a story behind the scenes. Finding them isn't necessary to the telling of the tale, just a fun twist in my writing.  :)

@MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. The theme this week is My Sexy Addiction.
This time it's 7 sentences from book 2 in my award-winning, Victorian polyamorous love story Loving Leonardo - The Quest.

The Blurb:
Happy and content, lovers Nicolas, Ellie, and Luca embark on a quest to learn all they can about the greatest mind of the Renaissance. But their world takes a devastating and deadly turn that sends Nicolas into the seedy deviant underworld of Victorian London. It soon becomes clear that Conte Acario Bruno lives, and the madman wants far more than Leonardo’s book. He wants Nicolas dead and Luca for himself.

Setting the Stage:
Nicolas, Ellie, and Luca are in Rome with Leonardo da Vinci's provocative book of love. In this scene Ellie and Luca share a moment as Nicolas looks on. The book has inspired more than one sensual encounter between these three.

My Seven:
She wanted me teased, and by god she was going to have it. There was nothing to do but follow. Clothing stripped away among the kisses, I watched my lovers sprawl on the bed side by side and continue what began in the outer room. Seeing open opportunity, I crawled between them. While they busied themselves with hand and lips and dancing tongues, I found other amusements. I nuzzled and tasted, sucked and lapped, just enough to make them want more. Three could play the tease.

"The novel has interesting information about Leonardo's work, the romance is both charming and hot and I couldn't put it down. It is very well-written. Thank you Rose! You have created characters that I've fallen in love with. I'll certainly watch for your next novel."

@MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. The theme this week is My Sexy Addiction.
This time it's 7 short paragraphs from my award-winning Hermes Online ~ a contemporary online love affair told in one voice only so the reader can see Vivienne's broken heart heal in real time.

The Blurb:
Left bruised and brokenhearted after a cruel breakup, Vivienne Bennet finds herself mired in a world of self-doubt. To her surprise, she receives an email that challenges her to rediscover the sensual woman she once was. Together Vivienne and the enigmatic man known only as S embark upon the world of anonymous Internet communication where suggestive emails lead to erotic chat, where cybering leads to Skype, and C2C sends both into the arms of a love they'd believed lost forever.

Setting the Stage:
Vivienne and the penpal she knows only as S have gone from emails to online chat. In this scene he asks her this question, "How came you to be this sensual creature?" As a person whose self-confidence was deliberately shattered by a cheating ex caught in the act, she really needs these words to remind her of the woman she really is -- a woman not defined by the negative words of another.

My Seven:
I smiled and shook my head to myself. I couldn’t begin to say actually. I think I’ve always been drawn to imagery. Is that what you mean?

Your ability to paint living hues with words is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It’s quite hot, V. Quite hot.

Thank you. That seems to be a talent of yours as well. I’m enjoying our “discussions” immensely.

As am I. Words can be very intimate if used to their full potential—as we’ve just experienced.

Oh yeah, I said to myself. Feeling the chat might have opened a door to friendship, at least a tiny bit anyway, I said, I know you are a proficient wordsmith. I know you have a knack with a phrase that can play my imagination like a fiddle...

LOL And you’re wondering about me the man, eh?

Grinning I replied, I’d be lying if I said no.

@MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. The theme this week is One Sexy Night.
This time it's 7
paragraphs from the award-winning Loving Leonardo ~ book one in the ongoing Victorian polyamorous love story.

Setting the Stage:
Newlywed Nicolas realizes theirs might be more than the marriage of convenience they agreed to.

My Seven:
I found my thoughts upon my wife while I bathed. Ellie was unlike any woman of my acquaintance. I hadn’t met many Americans in my life but the few I’d had were not quite as straightforward. What I saw in her was something far more. In our journey to Scotland and back, I’d learned that she and her sister lost their mother early in their childhood and that they were raised exclusively by their father and their governess. I’d recently read an article in the Times regarding the work of Sir Francis Galton and his “nature versus nurture” philosophy. Could this early, predominately male, nurturing be the source of her liberal attitudes? I had just stepped from the tub when Ellie came into the bath calling my name.

“Nicolas, I’m so sorry, I drifted off…Oh!”

Accustomed to servants seeing me unclothed since I was a boy, I didn’t give her interruption a second thought. Ellie, on the other hand, appeared positively dumbstruck and I had no idea why. I took a dry towel and rubbed it briskly over my head. I couldn’t see her watching me, but curiously, I could feel her eyes. Sure enough when I lowered the towel she was still standing there with pinkening cheeks. You’re embarrassed? Formally trained as I was to look for distinction in art, I couldn’t help but notice this was a slightly different hue than when I’d last seen her embarrassed. Knowing her to be bold-as-brass, I couldn’t credit this emotion in her. I said, “Ah you’re awake. Feel rested, do you?”

Self-declared progressive or not, I had the distinct impression my new wife had never seen a man in the flesh; a curious notion in light of the customary boldness I’d come to anticipate. I dropped the hand that held the towel to my side and let her look. That she didn’t excuse herself was telling, though I wondered if she tested me or herself.

I found utterly fascinating her brassy determination to prove she was unfazed to see me thus. Her eyes traveled my person from head to toe and lingered half-way. In some unanticipated biological response, I felt myself get hard. In that instant I knew with certainty that some time in our future I’d be able to do the deed without hesitation or impotence. Although the foreign concept made me extremely nervous, the notion of loving this compelling creature pooled in my loins.

Those blue eyes grew wide then flew to my face. Prattling excuses, she left the room. Did she think I lied about my sexual appetites? I followed her.

“Ellie wait... Ellie?”

My Sexy Saturday! #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors #SaturdayScenes

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. The theme this week is I’m So Sexy and what's sexier than a slow reveal? This time it's 7 sentences from book two in my award-winning polyamorous Victorian romance ~ Loving Leonardo - The Quest.

Setting the Stage: In pursuit of Da Vinci clues in Paris, Nicolas can't shake a growing feeling of dread. He finds himself a diversion for while.

My 7:

As a newly-wedded man who’d so recently discovered women, I found myself appreciating the mystery of their fashion. Of course I was aware of the structured framework of their undergarments. The artwork of Lovis Corinth and washday at home and all around London told me of pantalets, bloomers, and corsets. But Ellie didn’t corset herself. She was such a petite little thing there was no need to artificially hold her figure.

I ran my hands over her cotton-covered thighs and my cock rose in anticipation of what lay beneath. In my life prior to my bisexual self-discovery, I could never have imagined that going through the flounces of lace and frills of a woman’s undergarments would make me as giddy as a small child opening a gift on Christmas morning.

My Sexy Saturday! #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors #SaturdayScenes

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. The theme this week is Our Sexy New Year. This time it's 7 paragraphs from book one in my award-winning polyamorous Victorian romance ~ Loving Leonardo.

Setting the Stage: Aboard a ship bound for Venice, Nicolas makes a startling discovery about himself. He finds a new-found intimacy where he never thought possible.

My 7: She stood with her back to me covered in gooseflesh. How fine her bone structure was. Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg painted a back such as this in his Woman Standing in Front of a Mirror. My hands glided up and down her damp warm arms, and the gooseflesh smoothed away. Because Ellie was so slight, I had to bend to kiss her shoulder. She was a swan covered in the finest down, and my lips overjoyed at how soft they found this experience. I kissed her neck, sweeping my lips to her ear where a small gold-and-garnet bob dangled from a tiny hole. I took it between my teeth and lightly pulled, stretching the lobe as it followed. Releasing it, I traveled on to the line of her jaw. With her pulse against my lips, I could almost hear the blood as I passed over her jugular. My hands came around and swept across her pert high breasts and firm yet pliant nipples.

My cock found her as compelling as my mind did, for close as we were it sought familiar ground. I gripped myself with one hand and slowly dragged my spar along the split of her bottom as my other hand ran free upon her. She turned to me then, the look in her eyes possessing a heat I knew corresponded to my own. Meeting that gaze, I felt the shift inside me. Only suspecting this truth the day before, I knew with a certainty then and there that I wasn’t the homosexual I’d always thought myself to be. Like Lord Byron and Hans Christian Andersen, I was bisexual — an androgynous epicene who took delight in all. I was immersed in delight.

Taking her in my arms, I slid my cock between her sleek thighs and she tightened her legs around me, effectively trapping me along the warm furrow of her sex. The heat emanating there made me dizzy to discover it. I could do nothing else but press forward. Locked in this intimate embrace, I bent my head to kiss her. I no sooner had my lips upon her when the first bell rang, signaling our fifteen minutes to dress for dinner. Her lust-dilated eyes became huge and her hands went to my chest as her upper body arched away from mine.

“We have to dress!”

Reluctant to lose this moment of self-discovery, I drew her back and nuzzled the side of her neck. “Why?”

“For dinner.”

“You’re my dinner.” I drew her close once more and lightly bit her ear. She made a little noise halfway between a squeak and a gasp. It was adorable.

My Sexy Saturday! #SaturdayScenes, #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. The theme this week is loving at any age. Perfect for a 120-year-old ghost! I give you 7 sentences from Dreamscape.

It's a haunting, a murder, a thriller, a mystery, a time-travel of sorts, and a love story that transcends time. Above all, this sensual tale is a reader's Easter egg hunt in the truest sense. Not everything is as it appears. Peppered throughout are little clues suggesting a story running behind the scenes.

Setting the Stage:
Lanie now knows about her ghost. Dr. Jason Bowen is the man she's been dreaming about for years. Still, he takes a little getting used to.

My 7:
“I sense I make you nervous. I’d never hurt you, you know. Please believe that.”

“I believe you Jason, I -- I’m not dressed.”

“And I am a mere shadow of a man. Please don’t be shy in front of me, Lanie, I’m a ghost. Some would say I’m not even here,” he teased.

"Dreamscape is a beautifully told tale, blending the lives of two complex characters and two distinct time periods. I would best describe it as a very sensual romantic suspense." "I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it."
