It's a haunting, a murder, a thriller, a mystery, a time-travel of sorts, and a love story that transcends time. Above all, this sensual tale is a reader's Easter egg hunt in the truest sense. Not everything is as it appears. Peppered throughout are little clues suggesting a story running behind the scenes. 

Setting the Stage:
Lanie now knows about her ghost. Dr. Jason Bowen is the man she's been dreaming about for years. Still, he takes a little getting used to.

“I sense I make you nervous. I’d never hurt you, you know. Please believe that.” 

“I believe you Jason, I -- I’m not dressed.”

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. For me, this time it's 7 sentences from Enchanted Skye. 

Setting the Stage~
Grief, frustration, and stress -- the last two weeks were a whirlwind of heartbreaking change for Jenna. To top it off, last night she found herself locked in a room with a stranger. Here Jenna wakes with only a vague recollection of reckless drinking and crying her eyes out on the man's shoulder. Then she sees the owner of that shoulder in the bed beside her. Her recollection is hazy.

My Seven~     
Getting into such a spot with a complete stranger was way out of character for her. What’s more, she had no clear image of what occurred between them. Small recollections came drifting back. He’d held her while she cried. He’d kissed her. Or did I kiss him? She remembered lots of kissing, remembered too being carried to the bed and wanting to be there.

My Sexy Saturday!

It's My Sexy Saturday! Participating authors post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. For me, this time it's 7 paragraphs from Enchanted Skye. 

Setting the Stage~ After being at sea for the last several months, Alex watches a woman scattering ashes in the tidal pool and begins to feel strange. He has no idea she just innocently trapped him in an ancient and potentially deadly charm. He returns home to see if his sister Beatrix knows who this lovely stranger is.

My Seven~
     He watched with mild interest from the rocks, but when Angus and the reverend walked back to the house, his interest got the better of him. He scooted a little closer and lifted his head to get a better view. He didn’t recognize this young woman on the land but watched her kneel before the pool. Her dark sable hair covered her face as she keened and for some reason he felt compelled to go to her side. He slid into the water and the closer he drew, the stranger he felt. Only feet from her now, he blinked the saltwater from his eyes and watched her. The wind whipped at her hair and the sea mist clung to her clothing as she hugged an urn tightly to her chest. He knew what he was seeing then. They’d scattered ashes on the water. He considered her. Who was this woman to Angus MacLeod? 
    The woman must have felt his presence for she looked up from her grief. Meeting his eyes, she looked startled to see him so close. She rose slowly and backed away. 
     His heart ached to watch her go and he found the feeling both perplexing and extraordinary. Then and there, he knew he had to meet her. Taking a breath, he plunged under the water and swam to the far side of the cliff where the sea cave sat undetected. On dry land now, inside the dark chamber, he peeled away his waterskin. And where flippers were a moment before, a man’s arms and legs appeared. Shaking out his spotted skin with a snap, he rolled it into a tight bundle and headed toward the passage.
    The limestone tunnel itself was ancient, dug by his ancestors at a time when the zealous went in search of blood, and beings like him were hunted to near extinction. The tunnel led from the sea to his family’s other home and his other life as Alexander MacCodrum. He put a hand to a hidden door, one of several in the mansion, and it made a dry scraping sound as he pulled it open. Giving the back of the bookcase a shove, the weighted mechanism swung wide to reveal a bright sunny library.
    A woman’s voice came from the floor by the hearth, “Och, Alex you scared me! Come in, you’re scattering the ash with that draft.” Like that of her brothers, Bea’s Scottish burr tended to get thicker with emotion. With a soot-smudged nose and long black hair tied up in a kerchief, Beatrix MacCodrum sat back on her heels and looked him over from head to toe. He’d strategically repositioned the waterskin the instant he heard her shriek. Other than that, he wore nothing but his smile.
     She shook her head. “Tch, dinna you ever think to leave your clothes in the cave to change into? You know I might ha’ been sitting here with guests.”
    “That would ha’ been interesting, no?” He chuckled. “I haven’t been home in a while.”

Here's the scoop: Participating authors will post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences, or 7 words. For me, this time it's 7 paragraphs from Enchanted Skye ~ A story about a family a Selkie and the lovely stranger from America who accidentally sets off an ancient charm. One Selkies are particularly susceptible to.

Setting the stage: The old legends about the MacCodrum family are only considered to be fairy tales, but that doesn't stop the townspeople from teasing Alex about being a Selkie in front of Jenna.


My Seven:

Holding out his hand, Ronnie Nash said, “So yer Angus’s American niece. Pleased t’ meet ye Jenna. Ronnie Nash, friend to yer uncle and this clumsy oaf here,” he said and jerked his head toward Alex. He added, “Ye know the MacCodrums are true Selkie, don’t ye lass?”

Several people at the bar laughed. One said, “Aye, they’re great beasties, kin to the seals. And if ye find their skin without them in it, they’ll marry ye and keep yer house!” 

Tegan mopped a spill on the bar. He said, “Aye, an’ I’ve been all over the Isle looking for fair Beatrix’s skin. Can ye put in a good word fer me Alex? Ye know I’ve been head over heels for the lass fer ages.”

“My sister makes up her own mind, Teg. Just be your charming self.”

After introducing himself to Jenna, Boyd nudged her with his arm and said, “I’ll wager our Alex here has a seal skin hidden somewhere about.” Raising his voice, he said, “Don’t ye Alex?” 

Another man at the bar laughed. “Och man, yer blind. Look at him, soaked like that. He’s wearing it now. Is that why yer all wet Alex? Ye got that Selkie skin o’ yers on under yer shirt? Go on, show us yer flipper, Alex.”

Alex laughed with them. He was used to this, whenever outsiders were around. “How close t’ yer nose d’ ye want it, Boyd?” That inspired several hoots from the small crowd.

Setting the stage: At this point in the story, Vivienne realizes she's falling in love with a penpal, a man she knows only as S. The following is an exchange in print colored here to make it easier to read.

My Seven:

Soul-stealing, wonderful V,

You ask if I want you? How can you ask? You fill my every waking thought.

S

I smiled. The words I chose next were a worm on a hook if I ever saw one.

S,

Every waking thought? Tell me, what true thoughts are they? Sex with me in real life?

V

Utterly desirable V,

True thoughts, eh? Then yes, I must admit that I want to fuck you blind! But more than that, I want to make love to you until the lines between us blur and you take my soul completely.

S

Oh my god...I swallowed hard. The last time a man had said similar words to me they made my heart sing.

“I want to make love to you too,” I whispered to the enigmatic stranger.

We were cerebrally intimate yet knew nothing whatsoever about each other. But I wanted him, god yes, I did. He implied he was well endowed, and I didn’t care. I didn’t care if he was ancient or young or possessed an athlete’s body or weighed four hundred fifty pounds. I didn’t care. In my mind he had green eyes the color of a still and shady pond. He had a short devil-may-care beard and hair the color of ripe chestnuts. Had I more details he couldn’t have been more desirable in that moment. I read his last email again.

Setting the stage: Luca kisses Ellie, and Nicolas feels it as surely as if he were the one being kissed.


Meeting his eye, I silently mouthed, “Come to me.” He gave me an engaging wink over the top of her head. Instead of coming to me, the tease moistened his lips with his tongue and shook his head. Then taking Ellie’s hands, he bid her rise. Enfolding her in his arms, he wound the braid into his large hand. When he kissed her deeply, he also kissed my mind through her. And heaven help me, I felt the power of it keenly.
